In the State of New Mexico apostilles are issued by the office of Dianna J. Duran, New Mexico Secretary of State in Santa Fe.

Documents submitted to apostille need to comply with the following guidelines:

  • Documents need to be issued in New Mexico by the State Registrar of Vital Records, Notaries public or County Clerk recorders.
  • Documents from the vital records category need to be issued by the State registrar of vital records and have the signature of either Mary Anne Escudero or Celine Sanchez.
  • In order for notarized documents to be accepted for apostille they need to be accompanied by a notary statement and to bear the stamp proving the receiving of a certificate of appointment certifying the notary is appointed and commissioned.
  • To obtain apostille for school records issued in the State of Mexico you need a notarized copy from the school registrar.

New copies:

Certified copies of marriage certificates can be obtained from the County Clerk where  the marriage was registered.
For divorce decrees you can obtain certified copies from the District Court where documents were filed.
Certified copies of court documents and records can be requested from: the district court in Farmington (851 Andrea Dr. Farmington, NM 87401), the district court in Roswell (400 N Virginia Ave. Roswell, NM 88201) and the district court in Las Cruces (201 W Picacho Ave. Las Cruces, NM 88005).

Price is $3 per apostille with payment to the “New Mexico Secretary of State”.
Processing time is same-day counter service or 3 days for mailed orders.
