In the State of New Hampshire apostilles are issued by the office of William M. Gardner New Hampshire Secretary of State in Concord.

Documents submitted for apostille need to comply with the following guidelines:

  • To apostille birth, death and marriage certificates and other vital records you need certified copies signed by Stephen M. Wurtz, the Acting State Registrar or William R. Bolton, Jr. State Registrar and issued by the Department of Vital Statistics.
  • Documents bearing the signature of city or town clerks need to be notarized in order to be acceptable for apostille. Notarized documents need to include the date, stamp or seal and the signature of a notary public or a Justice of the Peace officer register and in good standing.
  • Certified copies of school documents issued by New Hampshire universities or high schools must be properly notarized and signed by the school registrar to be acceptable for apostille.
